OOC Event Intro! First plotting post + General Intro

Phantom Cipher Cordially Invites You to the Symphony of Disruption
Chaos Comes to High Rise Village
OOC notes: Here it is, folks! This is the event that most of Magisteria has been building towards so far: the game's first "Intense Event." Everything has been building towards this -- the first two events, the High Risk Quest, the gifts -- everything is going to become relevant here.
Since this event is the game's first Big One, this post is merely the introduction and will not cover all the event details, but there are a few key details I'm going to go ahead and put out there:
💥You have now met Phantom Cipher, the event antagonist. Cipher is pulling this now because the powers of Magisteria's Supernatural Undercity become stronger during the spooky season near the end of the year. Cipher won't be acting alone. The Fractured will also be cooperating with him, and he will be pulling power and tech from his as-yet-unidentified allies, emboldening him to bring chaos to High Rise Village.
💥The Symphony of Disruption will be an actual symphonic event: Phantom Cipher's creepy theme songs will play throughout the event, taking over High Rise Village's invisible algorithms. The music itself is imbued with properties that can contribute to twisting and pulling at people's minds.
💥However, the real corruption/alignment shift elements will come primarily from Cipher's Manifestation, called The Phantom's Gambit.
The Phantom's Gambit

Phantom Cipher will reveal that everything up until now has simply been a ploy to collect information on the Bios signatures of the Otherworlders. The encounter with the Fractured and Lysa the White Phantom brought them into proximity, and during that time, Cipher's group has been scanning "digital signature" information on their Bios and vitals. Using his powers in the form of a Manifestation (see above), Cipher will be deploying corruption tokens: void imprints, wraith marks, eclipse sigils.
Phantom Cipher has created a specialized playing card with a design based on each Otherworlder and their image. He will toss his die and, based on how the die lands, the cards will shift around. Should Phantom Cipher land a corruption token on an Otherworlder, the Otherworlder will find themselves shifted according to Cipher's card.
The corruption tokens will be deployed via numerous arachnid-shaped Lepidoperatives who will be crawling and jumping throughout the city on thin, almost invisible silver webs, trying to land upon Otherworlders to mark them for Cipher to shift them.
This can result in a few different outcomes. Otherworlders who get "marked" will take on the attributes of Cipher's cards, and/or (probably both) their Bios will merge with Umbra to replicate phantom versions of themselves.
General Details
💥There will almost certainly be RNG options for Cipher's cards, meaning there will be provided options for status shifts. However, PCs are allowed and encouraged to get really creative here: the alignment shift does not have to be from "good" to "bad." Cipher is an anarchist, a skeletal cyborg who just wants to watch the world burn!
Musashi could go from Berserker to Saber, Lucy could encounter an eldritch version of herself who's an Arasaka executive, Knives could go good (or... really, really bad, I guess), Gilgamesh can (and lbr probably will) turn into or manifest all the various manifestations of himself, including going all UBW. Sparkle might behave like a normal human being... or go buck wild, or both, at different points in the event!
Additionally, characters can become monstrous: wraiths, vampires, etc.
💥 Affected/altered characters will also find their minds/bodies being pulled by the silver webs like puppets, and some may find themselves literally being wielded by Cipher, forced to fight their would-be allies!
💥 NPCs and non-human beings can also risk corruption, and chaos will ensue through other means. There will be a lot of physical PVE, shit will be literally exploding in the city, and remember Grimm? There will be a lot more of those kinds of beefy android Danger Dog types working with Cipher and appearing throughout the district. Non-corrupted NPCs will, again, of course, be mounting an offense, and some of Magisteria's big dogs in law enforcement -- cyber samurai and the like will appear to aid the PCs.
💥Finally, some PCs will have the option to rescue their comrades. One of the two best powers against corruption will be the Blessings from the third TDM: the pure lovey-dovey magic of the Elysian Grove and the ancient spirits is a powerful force to combat Cipher's spells of anarchy.
💥 A select number of PCs will also be given special gems by the owner of Evergreen Terrace, the high level NPC who at last will appear preceding the event. These gem-endowed PCs, the Light Sentinels, will be given a share of "that person's" power, making them immune to the corruption. They will have the very special task of saving their fellow corrupted PCs, NPCs, and the district overall. Mod will accept a few sign-ups for this -- eyeing do-gooder types like Vash, Libra, Elidibus, and/or probably Rhea'li (unless Ten wants to make him bug out). Pure noble hero motherfuckers, then is your time to get the pure noble hero motherfuckery on.
